“Get To Know Me” Tag

Thanks, Abi, for tagging me! This will be fun!

TagPost2-2

~Vital Stats~

Name: Ivy Rose

Nicknames: Hang on: Rosebud, Rosey, Rosey-Toes, Pumpkernickle, Pumpkin, Bacon (don’t ask where that came from), Sissy, Sis….shall I continue?

Place of Birth: Spokane, Washington.

~Firsts~

Best friend: My absolutely amazing, adorable dog Maggie. She has taught me more about IMG_1384-1unconditional love than anyone else in the world.

Award: I won second place for design when I was five in our Awana grand prix. (I went on to win that same award two more times in future years.) :)

Sport: Well, I suppose it would be ballet, if that is considered a sport. After that, it was Tae Kwon Do.

Real holiday: Well, my family went to North Carolina for a few days when I was 18 months old. It was my first (and only) time swimming in the Atlantic Ocean. Apparently, I tried to drown myself multiple times, and almost succeeded, dragging my dad with me.

Concert: I have no idea. Probably seeing the Spokane Symphony.

~Favorites~

Film: Eh, I don’t watch a lot of movies. But my favorite is probably The Sound of Music.

TV show: The Dick Van Dyke show is pretty fun.

Color: Lilac purple. I would paint my room this color if I had the time or energy to do so. :)

images

Song: I have to pick ONE song?!?!?! That’s just cruelty. I really only listen to country music and bluegrass, so just about anything that falls into either of those categories I will probably love.

Restaurant: The Olive Garden. Hands down.

Books: A Penny Parcel by Avery E. Hitch; Counted Worthy by Leah E. Good, The Ilyon Chronicles by Jaye L. Knight…I could think of a lot more but those are the ones that are on the top of my brain.

~Currently~

Feeling: Better. I’ve been sick for the past six days.

Single or taken: Single, thank you very much. (WHY DO THEY ASK THESE KIND OF QUESTIONS????)

Eating: Nothing. But I just finished some soda crackers.

Watching: My computer screen. :)

Wearing: Tennis shoes, workout pants, and a sweatshirt.

~Future~

Want Children: Absolutely, if that’s what God has for me. They’re fun to have around.

Want to be married: Yes, if God sees fit.

Careers in mind: Graphics designer, author, PA-C.

Where you want to live: Anywhere, really. As long as I’m with people that I love, I couldn’t care less where I live. Every location has something totally awesome about it.

~Do You Believe In~

God: Absolutely. How can you live in a world as beautiful as this and not?

Miracles: Yes.

Love at first sight: Nope. :)

Ghosts: No.

Aliens: No.

Heaven: YES!

Hell: Yes.

Kissing on the first Date: Sure…the first date AFTER marriage. Before then, NO. :)

Yourself: Yes, this is, unfortunately, necessary for anything to get done in life.

Did you enjoy this? I had fun writing it…weird questions aside. :)

Liebster Award

Thank you so much Hope, for nominating me for the Liebster Award! The questions were fun. I apologize for any nonsensical answers to the questions…I answered these rather late one night.

award

Here are the rules:

– Thank the blog who nominated you and link back to them.

– Nominate up to 11 other bloggers to receive the award.  To be eligible, they need to have 200 followers or less.

– Answer 11 questions from the blogger who nominated you.

– Tell your readers 11 random facts about yourself.

– Give your nominees 11 questions to answer on their blog when they post their nomination.

My Nominees:

I’m terrible at nominating people. If you want to do this, please, by all means do! And make sure you tell me if you do, because I want to read it!

Eleven Questions from Hope:

#1 – Sword or bow?

Sword. Well, actually a pistol would be my first choice since I’ve had the most training in that area, but since that isn’t an option here I’ll go for the sword. :-)

#2 – Favorite jewel?

My birthstone: Ruby. (It even sounds pretty, too!) :-)

#3 – What book are you reading right now?

The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis, and Six Cousins; Family Reunion by Kelsey Bryant

#4 – Dragon or griffin?

Dragon. Griffins aren’t realistic enough and they scare me. (Sorry…that’s the non-fantasy-loving-Ivy coming out there.)

#5 – When did you start writing?

I began putting pen to paper ten years ago, but my parents tell me that I was quite the storyteller long before then.

#6 – What is your current favorite fiction book?

A Penny Parcel by Avery E. Hitch, followed closely by the Ilyon Chronicles by Jaye L. Knight. (That’s the fantasy-loving-Ivy coming out. I know…don’t even bother trying to understand me. I’ve been trying for years and it hasn’t worked yet. ;-) )

#7 – Would you like to go back in time or forward in time?

Back. The future is too complicated. (The characters in my futuristic Never Alone trilogy will attest to that.)

#8 – Snow or rain?

Definitely snow. At least that is pretty both when falling and (usually) when on the ground. Rain is just…rainy. Droopy. Wet. And I hate being wet when I don’t want to be.

#9 – Name of a favorite character in a story you are writing?

Favorite character in a story I’m writing? That’s a tough one. I guess I’d have to say Chelsea Sanders in Ocean Hues. She’s very much like myself, yet entirely different.

#10 – Do you talk to yourself?

*Hiding face* yeah. Mostly in my head though.

#11 – Fly or breath underwater?

Fly! I’ve always wanted to do it! Actually, I tried it one time and landed myself a severely broken arm that led to a shoulder-height plaster cast for 7 weeks. (Stop laughing. I was 6 years old.)

11 random facts about myself. (These are always so hard…)

#1: I talk a lot. (Betcha couldn’t have guessed that one, huh? ;-) )

#2: I am a complete, total, over-the-moon dog lover. (Ask my dogs; they’ll tell ya.)

#3: I play 6 instruments.

#4: I am lactose intolerant. (Not real proud of that but it is what it is.)

#5: I would rather be warm than cold. Being cold is extremely painful to me. (I dream of tropical vacations away from snowy, chilly Washington…)

#6: I am always moving (wiggling, squirming, drumming my fingers, flexing my toes…)

#7: A-Beka Chemistry and I do not get along. At all.

#8: My mom taught me to read when I was 3. (Thanks Mom!)

#9: I have foot orthotics and wear knee and ankle braces because I have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. (Not proud of that either but genetics are genetics. {Ehlers-Danlos is a connective tissue disorder, meaning that my tendons and ligaments don’t hold my joints together like they should.})

#10: I am running out of room on my bookshelf. (And it’s already been unloaded to the “main bookshelves” twice in the past 8 years.)

#11: I overuse parenthesis. (But you haven’t noticed, have you?)

Alright, now my 11 questions for my nominees:

#1: Dogs or cats? Or both? ;)

#2: Name your favorite villian. (Either in a book you’ve written or a book you’ve read)

#3: Chocolate or caramel?

#4: Night owl or morning person?

#5: When do you do most of your writing?

#6: What is your favorite book published before 1930?

#7: Who is your favorite character in a book you’re writing?

#8: Do you talk to yourself?

#9: Favorite character in a book?

#10: Summer or winter?

#11: Kindle or paperback?

Looking forward to seeing your answers!

  1. I was never able to stomach coffee until about two years ago, but now, I love it.

  3. My favorite genre to read is historical fiction.

  6. I play seven instruments.
  7. I write from 9pm to 12am.

I don’t know who to tag…I only know of one person reading this blog who has a blog…but if any of you wish to do this, please consider yourself tagged!

Behind the Scenes Writers Tag

My friend Hope tagged me to answer this awesome list of questions. I hope you enjoy it!

– Is there a certain snack you like to eat while writing?

Chocolate! Dark chocolate, milk chocolate…anything chocolate.

– When do you normally write? Night, afternoon, or morning?

I write whenever I get a chance, but my best writing hours are 7pm to 1am.

– Where do you write?

Anywhere I can. My preferred spot is on my bed…comfy, cozy, and quiet. :)

– How often do you write a new novel?

*Sheepish grin*  WWWAAAAYYYY more often than I should. A couple times a year I start a new one. :)

– Do you listen to music while you write?

Yes. Classical piano (mostly hymns).

– What do you write on? Laptop or paper?

Laptop.

– Is there a special ritual you have before or after you write?

Turning on my music, making sure all my daily tasks are complete, and I’m trying to include having a short prayer time.

– What is always near the place you write?

Typically my cell phone for music, chocolate, and sometimes hand-written notes.

– Do you have a reward system for your word count?

No. I try not to have a word count goal.

– Is there anything about your writing process that others might not know about?

Hmmm…I get distracted quite easily. ;) Writing the first draft is my favorite part of the writing process…editing is my enemy.
