Honesty in stories. Truth in words.

Looking Ahead

Okay, maybe it’s not quite that dramatic, but I’m super excited about the new things that are happening around here! Most of the things I mention here are going to have their own post, but I’m just giving ya’ll a little taste of what’s coming. :D And it’s so much easier to just dump everything in one post.

I’m starting a newsletter!

BUT WAIT! Before you roll your eyes and ignore yet ANOTHER newsletter, I’m here to tell you that mine is going to be different. Believe me, I honestly am not a fan of the whole newsletter fad. Yeah, I know it’s supposed to be an author’s best marketing tool and all, but I don’t enjoy having my inbox flooded with a bunch of newsletters all the time, no matter how much I love the author! My newsletter is going to be completely different; I’m trying to break the standard mold of newsletters. *mwahahaha* Keep your eyes peeled for a blog post all about it.

My Instagram how has over 100 followers. I’m in shock. It’s only been six months, yet already I’ve got 100. To celebrate, I’m doing a giveaway. But hurry on over there and enter…this is the last day!!!

On a similar note, my blog has reached 60 subscribed followers! Can you believe it? 60 amazing people who let ME enter their inbox for ever blog post. Thank you!!!!

There is a work-in-progress meter on the sidebar of this blog. With that, you can all keep close tabs on how much progress I’m making on my current WIP. Though it’s true I tend not to talk about my writing until I know FOR SURE it’s going to become a book inside of 10 years (I’m a squirrel brain who gets way too many ideas to keep track of), I’m going to start doing a better job about introducing my books so you all actually care about them as they’re being written.

I’m having business cards made. I really want them to have a sentence or two about what kind of writing I do. This is challenging for me because I’m all over the board with genres. The only one that comes to my head is “showing different kinds of love between all ages and all people”. It sounds corny, though.

This is where I need you. You’re the ones who READ my books, so I want you to tell me how you would describe my style. Let me know in a comment or an email!

NOTE: you only have until Monday, so HURRY HURRY HURRY!!!! :D

I am looking for people to add to my permanent beta-reader team. Okay, permanent sounds a little…permanent, but basically what I’m looking for is a team of people who I can contact when I need a book beta-read and, if they are available, they beta for me. There are some specific things I’m looking for in a beta reader, so this is a little different than me just throwing my book out to ya’ll. More info coming on this!

This entire blog is getting a makeover. Seriously. A total, complete, and awesome makeover. I hope you all like the new design as much as I do. I can’t wait to share it!!!!

The Old River Road is turning one on July 8th! How exciting is that?!? I have some plans for a little celebration, which may or may not include the title of book #2. *smirks*

There you have a totally random, completely info dumpy, announcement/news post. Hope that was somewhat enjoyable. ;)

  1. Wow! That’s quite a list of upcoming things! And all quite fun too. I’m interested in the possibility of being a “permanent” beta-reader. ;) So much excitement. Can you handle it all? :)

I am ridiculously excited about all of this! I wonder if I’ll make it on the beta-reader team … that would be fun! And I can’t wait to hear more about Long Lake Legacies #2! I’m so excited for it! :)

Hmm … let’s see … you wrote a semi-biographical historical romance/adventure-ish and a contemporary literary fiction/adventure/missionary story/ … how do you describe these books?! I see your problem.

Well … all your books so far have had strong Christian themes … so that’s one thing! So you’re a Christian fiction author. “author of contemporary and historical Christian fiction”? I honestly can’t think of anything!

Hehe…yay!!! I’m excited to reveal the title, also. :D

Thank you for sympathizing. XD How do I do these things to myself?!? Thanks for your input!! It’s very much appreciated!

    Exciting stuff!!! <3
Also, when is the next vlog challenge available to do? I'm really excited about doing it!! ;P

    • Ivy says:

The new challenge was announced last week, and the questions are up and available on the VAVC page. It’s open until the 15th of August! I can’t wait to see your video! :D

  4. I’m sitting over here, reading this, casually fangirling about EVERYTHING in this post! Especially the title of Long Lake Legacy’s book two! *heart eyes*

As far as a description of your style, my first thought is something like: “Exquisite Plotlines & a Captivating Voice, Weaving Stories of Pure, True Love”. :)

I’m seriously so excited for everything to come, BTW! :D

    • Ivy says:

Casually fangirling? You must teach me your ways. I don’t casually fangirl very well. XD I’m glad you’re so excited!!!

Great sentence! It’s very helpful to hear how different people interpret my writing. :)

Ooh, business cards! Sadly I have not read any of your books, so I couldn’t tell you what your style is. 😉 I’m hoping to eventually, though.

The newsletter sounds exciting and congratulations on 100 IG followers!! I can’t wait to hear more about the beta reader team.

    Good luck with everything! 😊

Yassss I made some myself last year, but they turned out horrible…probably would have been better had I spent more than 10 minutes on them, but now I figured I’ll just have a professional do them. :D

    1. Newsletter? Yay! I enjoy anytime my inbox gets something from you. The more the better! And I’m really curious about how you’ll be breaking the mold. I understand what you mean about too much in the inbox though…

    2. Congratulations! I’ve already got both of your books (and no Instagram account;), but if I did, I’d follow officially. I enjoy all your updates on there. =)

    3. WIP due in 3 weeks and only 20.8% done? Sounds like you’ll be busy. =P I like this new feature.

    4. Hmmm. I think I’ll cover the other points then get back to this one.

    5. That’s a post I’d like to read. =)

    6. Exciting!

    7. Only one year old? I remember seeing it on a blog post somewhere and if felt like forever until I bought it and read it, and now it feels like forever since I’ve read it! One year? Impossible! =P Congratulations on that. Book 2? Dare I hold my breath? ;)

4 (revisited). Hmmm. What you have is on the right track, because that’s the feeling I got from both of your books–love for/between people. Now to make it catchy…
“Writing Love–love from God for all people”. I’ll probably look at that tomorrow and groan. How to do it so it doesn’t sound like traditional romance is the question. You’re suggestion makes it clear it’s not romance. “Writing about love in all it’s stages.” “Showing the warmth of love through stories for all ages” I think I’d better stop. =P

That was a very fun blog post! Sounds like you’ve been busy.

      1. Yay!!! Happy to hear it!
      3. Ha. Haha. Hahahahaha. This pressure might actually make me write… XD
      4. Awesomeeeeee. Anything helps me formulate better what I need to say, so any and all suggestions are helpful!!

Glad you enjoyed it! And yes, a little too busy for my liking. XD

  7. Jesseca Dawn says:

Ohhh, looks like there’s a lot of exciting stuff going on! As for #4… hmm, something like “Writing to shine the light of the gospel through the pages of fiction.” Or maybe… “Shinning the love of God through the pages of fiction.” IDK. I never was too good at short and sweet. xD
Also, I’m so excited about book 2! I can’t wait till the title reveal!

  8. Marrok says:

Oooo info dumps I love them!
Your starting a newsletter! sign me up! I totally get not liking newsletters, but if you’re doing something different I don’t mind adding another. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us. I would like to be part of your permanent beta reading team, but the thing is I don’t know if I’ll be able to beta read every time there is something to read, or if I’ll be able to finish reading it. But let me know if you need an almost permanent beta reader

    • Ivy says:

I hope you will like what I’m doing with my newsletter! I’m pretty excited about it! :)

Yeah, it’d be great to have you! I always appreciate guy beta readers–they give such an awesomely different perspective!

  9. So many exciting updates! I’m eager to see how things change on here…especially the newsletter. I’ve been wanting to have a newsletter too, but I haven’t found anything that “worked”…maybe you’ll give me some inspiration…? =)
Yes! I want to be on your permanent Beta reader list. =) Your writing is lovely, and I’m encouraged to see how God uses you.
And I missed your business card ideas, but the other readers shared some good ones…I think it’ll turn out nicely. =)
    Keep shining for Him. ♥

    • Ivy says:

      Yay!! I’m glad you’re excited! :D

You already are. ;) I asked you after Left to Die, I think. So you are exempt from the application and tryout process. :D

Hehe…they gave me some great ideas! I can’t wait to share the finished product.

      Love you, girlie. <3

  10. Maddy says:

Wow, exciting stuff! Wishing you the best! Ooh, and I’d love to be apart of your “permanent beta team. ” ; )

  11. *squeals* All the new things!!!! :D

(Oh and don’t do a newsletter to often. Once a month is HARD.)
