Honesty in stories. Truth in words.

Long Overdue UPDATES!

I know, I know, this post has been too long coming. Many apologies! *bangs head* bad author, bad author.

My contemporary novella, Left to Die, is FINALLY available as a paperback! It might take a day or two for it to show up on Amazon, but it will be there.

I have taken a few weeks off from writing. There are several reasons for this that I won’t go into, but the reason I’m even bringing it up is because I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOING THIS. My mind has been so much clearer to think and process and prioritize and goal-ize and focus on my relationship with Christ. It’s been wonderful. Highly, highly recommended.

This is sad news. Get your tissues out.

The second Long Lake Legacy book will not be published in 2017.

I’m so, so sorry. Again, there are several reasons why that I won’t bore you with. It makes me sad, too, especially because I know how excited many of you are for the next installment in Clara and William’s story. It is coming, just not as quickly as I had hoped.

The new approximate publication date is Summer, 2018.

This is more of an FYI than anything, but I’ll smack it here as number four. :)

Instagram is my new favorite media platform. It’s awesome. And I even post semi-regularly. So if I ever let my blog fall into the depths of despair and/or I completely ignore it, feel free to hop onto my Instagram.

I’m actually considering writing a book by hand? Like…I think I’m crazy. But I think I might enjoy it. I mean…I used to write primarily by hand. Surely I can do it again?

Still trying to make a decision on this one. I’ll be sure to let you know. :)

I survived having my wisdom teeth removed.

Let me say, I’m exceptionally glad that this is a one-time deal. I won’t post pictures of my swollen face to be sensitive to those who may be fainthearted, but I did put a few on Instagram for whomever may enjoy viewing such hysterical contortions of me face.

What have you been up to lately?

Are you doing Camp NaNo?

(or are you hiding in the bushes eating smores while all the productive little writers do the thing?) *stuffs face*

Wow, I had my wisdom teeth out last month too!!! You are brave to post pictures, but let me tell you–I was more swollen. ;) I had one cheek that stuck out like two inches for SEVERAL days. :P

Writing a book by hand would be so much fun! You should make it a blog challenge and force the rest of us to do it with you. ;)

My Camp NaNoWriMo is going okay, but I have been taking some breaks to do other important things as well. ;)

I don’t know if brave is the right word…crazy is more like it! XD I was very blessed to not be terribly swollen. I’m so sorry you were–it’s so miserable!!!

Mwahahaha…that’s not a bad idea. ;) I will have to think about that.

Good for you! Sometimes, other things have to come first, and that’s a-OK. :)

What? No William and Clare until 2018? ;) Just kidding. I’ll be patient.

I want to write a book by hand … but I feel the same way. Is it too crazy?

    • Ivy says:

I know. I’m sooo sorry!!! *cries*

I have no clue! I used to only write stories by hand, so I know I can do it, but…do I really want to is the question. ;)

  3. Abigayle says:

Aww sorry about the William and Clara delay. Let me know if I can help at all ;)

Writing by hand is really fun but my wrist does not love me. Getting teeth extracted is less fun.

Ah yes Instagram. Go check your followers. I lost my self-control and need training

    • Ivy says:

I will definitely take you up on that. ;)

Yeah, mine neither. And my fingers get sore!

  4. I may need to take a break from writing at some point, so I can clear my head and work on my relationship with God to. It sounds like a good idea, now I just need to figure out when I’ll do that.

I’ve actually never written a book by hand before, but I’ve thought about trying. You’ll have to let us know how it goes for you. ;)

    • Ivy says:

I kinda took the break unintentionally, but it’s turned out to be one of the best things ever. I really needed this time to re-focus. You should definitely do it!

  5. I’m going to have to wait for Long Lake Legacy #2? =( Well, it will only make reading it all the sweeter when it does finally come out, I suppose. ;) I think it’s wonderful that you’re taking a break from writing though…I’ve (kinda accidentally) done the same thing for a long time…Lol. But it is SO good to refocus on goals and life and family and Jesus!! I highly recommend it as well. =)

Ohh…and I wanted to say that your Instagram photo with your little sister is adorable!! She is the cutest thing… ♥ It makes me want to read Left to Die all over again. *happy sigh*

    • Ivy says:

I know I’m sooooo sorry!! *cries* It makes me so sad to do it, but…yeah. It just needed to happen.

Thank youuuu!!!! :D She is adorable. I can’t believe she will be 12 this year! Hehe…I need to read Left to Die again, too. Is it bad that I still need the message in my own book??? :)

  6. I had just looked to see if Left to Die was in paperback form last week as I wanted to add it to my birthday list, but it wasn’t. Now it is!!!!!!! :D I’m so excited because I want it in paperback so I can share it with my friends and hold it in my hands. :) And of course read it again.

It’s not at all bad that you still need a message from your own book! I do. :P

Though I am sad about Clara and William, I understand. Life doesn’t always go as planned.

I’m doing Camp NaNo and am having fun. I’ve never done Word Sprints before and I must say they have been a huge help on those days when I either didn’t want to write, was getting distracted by everything, or just stuck. And I love seeing how much I’ve gotten written in spite of my crazy busy month!

    • Ivy says:

I’m so excited, also!!! Can’t believe it took so long, but yeah…finally!! :D

Thanks for understanding. Makes me so sad, but I think the book will be all the better for this waiting. :)

Good for you!!! Sprints are wonderful for productivity.

  7. Morgan says:

Noooooooooo what happened to the book! I love the Old River Road so much, and I’m really excited for this next one.

    • Ivy says:

I’m so sorry! It’s coming, just…slower than I wanted. I’m glad to hear you’re excited for it, whenever it comes! :D

  8. Morgan says:

I wrote a novella by hand once, called Dawn. It was around 26,000 words. Not bad. But I got cramps a lot.

  9. Ah, I’m sorry your sequel is going to be late. *sad face* But I understand how things are for us writers sometimes. WOW such heaping admiration for writing a novel by hand! I used to all the time when I was younger but never anymore. I like the idea of it but my wrist won’t let me, and I get frustrated with the slower pace haha. *sigh* typical me, I guess. ;)

    • Ivy says:

Me too. *cries* Yes. Life. It stinks sometimes. -_-

Haha…well, we’ll see how long I last at it. ;) It will be interesting, to say the least.

      • Katja L. says:

That’s a great idea, Ivy!! A challenge to do it too would be super fun!! If you do I will write it out in pink pen. I suddenly have a craze for writing a story in pink pen. :P
